PhD Candidate in Clinical Psychology
Norma Ramirez is a graduate student pursuing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Fuller Seminary. She was born in Mexico and came to the United States at the tender age of 5 and settled in Las Vegas, NV. She went through her childhood thinking that she was the same as everyone else until she had to start applying for a driver’s license, jobs, and college applications including FASFA. It was heartbreaking to see all these doors close before her because she was undocumented. However, she didn’t give up and graduated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas in 2014 with her B.A in psychology. In 2017 she obtained her M.A in Clinical Psychology and as of September 2017, she is a plaintiff in the DREAMers class action lawsuit which is now part of a conglomerate of cases going before the Supreme Court on Nov. 12, 2019. As of October 31, 2019, Norma is now a PhD Candidate in Clinical Psychology. Norma believes in the power of our community and wishes to help address the mental health needs in our community.
